“We looked at several potential locations in the U.S. when we decided to relocate our North American headquarters from New York,” said Smarp CEO Roope Heinilä. “Our primary criterion was the availability of talent, and Atlanta’s world-class universities and diverse talent pool made it a top pick for us. In New York, we found that much of the talent pool was focused on the financial and media industries, whereas we see Atlanta as a growing tech hub with a vast and diverse talent pool. We’re looking forward to contributing to the growth of the local ecosystem.”

Privately held and headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Smarp employs more than 70 professionals, working with over 300 global customers. The company is an enterprise grade internal content hub for content discovery and distribution.

“Smarp’s selection of Atlanta as its U.S. headquarters underscores the continuing growth of Atlanta’s high tech industry and reflects the expanding business links between Georgia and Finland,” said John Saunders, Honorary Consul of Finland in Atlanta and a partner at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.

“Landing an innovative tech company such as Smarp strengthens Georgia’s reputation as a center for innovation and technology,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Commissioner Pat Wilson. “This is another example of metro Atlanta’s growing strength as a high-tech leader, and Georgia’s international relationships yielding outstanding results.”

GDEcD Project Manager Sunny Anderson represented the Global Commerce division with support from Director of International Investment Nico Wijnberg, and in partnership with the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Invest Atlanta and Georgia Power.

“The City of Atlanta continues to be a destination for global software companies looking to expand their business with sought-after talent coming out of local universities and access to a diverse startup ecosystem,” said Dr. Eloisa Klementich, President and CEO of Invest Atlanta. “Almost half of the companies Invest Atlanta has worked with during the last two years are in the tech sector, which has led to $2 billion in new economic activity. We are pleased to have another U.S. headquarters in Atlanta and look forward to welcoming Smarp here.”
