Tasty Blend Foods Invests $3M In West Virginia Expansion

The food manufacturer’s expansion of its Putnam County, WV manufacturing plant will create 20 new jobs and add a new product production line.

Tasty Blend Foods recently celebrated the completion of an expansion of its Putnam County manufacturing facility. Construction began October 2018, and the facility is expected to be fully operational by July 2019. Tasty Blend Foods manufactures dry mixes and bakery goods.

The expanded operation follows Tasty Blend’s acquisition of Snak-Time Foods Corporation, moving the Snak-Time line of breakfast sandwiches and biscuits to West Virginia. The expansion adds 22,000 square feet to the facility’s existing 48,000 square feet and adds a new production line. Tasty Blend will add 20 new jobs to its current workforce of 45.

“By bringing Snak-Time Foods to West Virginia, we can provide top quality products and service the needs of our foodservice and retail customers with true made-in-West-Virginia products,” said Tasty Blend President Roy Elswick. “Also, we can provide the West Virginia school systems with quality and the sandwiches with the made-from-scratch taste.  This is a win/win for Tasty Blend and the State of West Virginia.“

“Tasty Blend opened its doors in West Virginia in 1987,” said Gov. Jim Justice. “While we work hard to bring new businesses to West Virginia, I’m proud to say we work just as hard to help our existing businesses expand and thrive.”

Tasty Blend called on the Governor’s Guaranteed Work Force Program to upgrade employees’ skills and ease the workload. “Thanks to the training, we now have a team effort on our projects,” said Gloria Crouch, an administrator on the management team. “The employees’ morale has boosted significantly.”

The workforce is a key ingredient in the company’s success, said President/CEO Roy Elswick. “The workforce here is willing to learn, willing to listen, willing to do,” he said. The employees work to help the company succeed now and into the future. “They stay with you. They’re long term dedicated people.”

“One ingredient in this successful effort is the teamwork that made it possible,” said Executive Director Michael Graney, West Virginia Development Office. “I congratulate the leaders of Tasty Blend who worked closely with the West Virginia Development Office, the West Virginia Economic Development Authority and the Putnam County Development Authority throughout the expansion process.”
