“Expanding our manufacturing operations to York County will enhance Schuff Steel’s fabrication capabilities and capacity in the eastern region of the United States,” said DBM Global Chief Executive Officer Rustin Roach. “York County and the S.C. Department of Commerce have been great partners in helping us expand into South Carolina, and we are grateful for all their efforts. We expect to be an active employer in Rock Hill and look forward to becoming part of the community.”

To establish operations in York County, Schuff Steel will refurbish a 148,000-square-foot fabrication facility located on a 45-acre site in Rock Hill, SC. The new operations are expected to come online by the fourth quarter of 2018. Hiring is slated to begin in the third quarter of 2018.

“Schuff Steel Company is South Carolina’s latest partner in an increasingly-diverse economy,” said Gov. Henry McMaster. “The 180 new jobs this investment will create will change the lives of South Carolinians; and, for that, we are extremely grateful.”

South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project.

“It’s no secret that South Carolina is having great success in the manufacturing sector,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “I’m proud that industry leaders, like Schuff Steel Company, are recognizing this and deciding to invest in our state.”

“Today’s announcement by Schuff Steel Company is extremely exciting not only because of the quality new jobs that will be created, but because this announcement takes the metal working presence in our area to a new level,” commented York County Council Chairman Britt Blackwell. “We are proud to have this major industry leader launch its new manufacturing operations in our community. We congratulate Schuff Steel, and welcome them to York County.”

Consistently ranked as the No. 1 steel erector in the U.S. by Engineering News-Record magazine, Schuff Steel is one of the largest and most experienced structural steel fabricators and erectors in North America. The company’s multiple fabrication plants across the U.S. have a collective footprint of more than 1.47 million square feet.
