The Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), the largest education institution in Virginia and second largest community college in the country, recently celebrated the Grand Opening of its Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training (RCWET) in Woodbridge, VA.
The state-of-the-art 55,000-square-foot facility aims to be Northern Virginia’s leading workforce training epicenter, delivering a highly-trained workforce with technical skills to meet the growing technological demands of cyber security, government, healthcare, information technology and program management. The Prince William Board of County Supervisors initially committed $1 million to the RCWET project, which ultimately helped secure necessary funding from the Virginia General Assembly to establish the $29 million facility.
“This is a powerful return on investment and of significant importance for not only Prince William County and NOVA, but the Greater Washington metropolitan region,” said Corey A. Stewart, Chairman, Prince William Board of County Supervisors. “The opening of the Regional Workforce Training Center is a testament to Prince William County’s commitment to be ‘pro-business’ – to work hand-in-hand with our local business community to ensure that their needs are addressed and to attract innovative companies that require employees with highly-trained, competitive skills.”
“The opening of this new educational institute further strengthens Prince William County’s value proposition and is happening at an opportune time as businesses are increasingly demanding, highly-skilled, qualified labor,” said Jeff Kaczmarek, Executive Director, Prince William County Department of Economic Development. “Today, we are sending a strong signal to the business community that Prince William County has the leading credentials and tools to meet those needs and to ensure that they not only retain, but increase their competitive advantage.”
The facility features a professional testing center and 7,500-square-foot conference center designed to host a range of events from industrial-type training, exhibits and tradeshows to formal gatherings and special events. Located a half mile from Interstate 95 at Exit 156 East, the center will serve regional businesses, local area governments and military communities.
