Misfits Gaming Group is investing more than $1.35 million to relocate its corporate headquarters to Boca Raton, FL. The esports and gaming leader in the information technology industry will create 30 new jobs with average salaries of $95,500.
“Thanks to the state of Florida, we’re excited to be opening our headquarters in Boca Raton next year,” said Ben Spoont, CEO and co-founder of Misfits Gaming Group. “Boca Raton will be our base of operations for our global esports teams, as well as our 2 Florida-based franchised esports teams, the Florida Mayhem and Florida Mutineers. Through these local teams, we’ll be running several large-scale esports events in the state throughout the year, in addition to college tournaments and community events. It’s our goal to help grow the esports and gaming communities in Florida. We want to provide a platform for gamers to connect with each other, and give young professionals a path into the industry.”
Misfits Gaming Group will consolidate operations from Los Angeles, CA and Berlin, Germany, and establish its new national headquarters location in Palm Beach County. The Business Development Board assisted Misfits Gaming Group by making local connections and providing access to incentives through the state, county, and city. A QTI tax refund was secured from the state of Florida for $210,000 through Enterprise Florida and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. In addition to the QTI tax refund, Misfits Gaming Group was awarded a $21,000 Job Growth Incentive Grant from Palm Beach County to be applied with matching funds from the City of Boca Raton. Misfits Gaming was represented in the lease transaction by CBRE’s Will Portfolio, Vice President.
