Medacta USA will invest $2.5 million to relocate its U.S. headquarters to Middle Tennessee from Chicago. The orthopedic and medical device maker will create more than 50 jobs in Franklin, TN over the next five years. The company will establish its U.S. headquarters and a research and development lab in Bowers Park at 6640 Carothers Parkway.
“Everyone at Medacta USA is thrilled to call Franklin our new home,” said Matthew Goudy, Medacta USA general manager. “The Greater Nashville area combines a deep talent pool in the health care and tech space with close proximity to some of the world’s best orthopedic researchers and practitioners at leading medical institutions. The quality of life for our team members, along with Nashville’s accessibility, made this an easy decision. We are grateful for the community’s warm welcome and look forward to becoming an active and visible member of it.”
A subsidiary of Switzerland-based Medacta International, Medacta USA specializes in the design and production of innovative orthopedic products and the development of accompanying surgical techniques. Founded in 1999, Medacta is a pioneer in developing new offerings with minimally invasive surgical techniques.
“Medacta USA’s decision to bring its U.S. headquarters to Franklin underscores the vibrant economy of the entire Nashville region,” said Gov. Bill Lee. “Tennessee’s business-friendly environment gives companies of all types the opportunity to create quality jobs for our residents, especially in the health care sector. I thank Medacta for this investment in Williamson County.”
The company selected Middle Tennessee so it could be near fellow health care companies.
“There’s no question that the global health care industry revolves around Nashville,” said Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Bob Rolfe. “With more than 250,000 Middle Tennesseans working in the industry, Tennessee continues to attract world-class health care companies and their headquarters operations. I’m pleased to welcome Medacta USA to the growing roster of health care companies that play such a vital role in our state’s diverse and dynamic economy.”
Since 2015, TNECD has supported 26 economic development projects in Williamson County. These projects represent nearly 3,800 job commitments and approximately $400 million in private capital investment.
“We are proud to add Medacta USA to the long list of health care providers who have chosen to call Williamson County home,” added Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson. “Medacta’s commitment to innovative, world-class technology and training is inspiring. We look forward to welcoming them to our community.”
