Jet.com, a new online shopping site, has opened a 160,000-square-foot, west coast warehouse and distribution center in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, east of Reno, NV. The company plans to hire 150-180 employees by the end of 2016 and another 350 within five years for more than 500 new jobs to the area. Jet.com launched nationally in July 2015 with the promise to be the smartest way to shop and save on pretty much anything.
“We chose the Reno area due to its strong workforce, fulfillment infrastructure and ability to provide two-day shipping to most western states in the U.S.,” said Nate Faust, Jet.com COO. “We’re very excited about the new fulfillment center and our presence in the Reno area.”
“Innovation and Storey County have become synonymous for national companies looking for one of the country’s friendliest states for new business,” said Marshall McBride, Chairman, Storey County Board of Commissioners. “We’re proud to welcome Jet.com to our growing list of businesses that are calling the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center and northern Nevada home.”
“It is exciting to see an up and coming e-commerce company choose our region for their growth in the west,” said Mike Kazmierski CEO of Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN). “Jet.com has an exceptional business model that has had amazing success with consumers in just a short period of time. We are proud to be a part of this innovative new company’s explosive growth.”
