Bechtel Fairfax County VirginiaBechtel has maintained its operational headquarters in Reston since 2011, but the company’s corporate headquarters have been located in San Francisco almost since its founding in 1898. The consolidation will add about 150 jobs to the company’s presence in Fairfax County.

“For more than a decade, Bechtel’s corporate leadership has been distributed across Houston, Reston, and San Francisco,” said Jack Futcher, Bechtel’s chief operating officer. “Consolidating the corporate leadership and operations in Reston will enable the company to thrive in the current fast-paced business environment – one that demands faster and seamless decision-making, integration, and collaboration.”

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) worked with Bechtel as it has located and expanded operations in the county.

“This is the third time that the EDA has had the privilege of working with Bechtel as it has expanded its presence here,” said Gerald L. Gordon, president and CEO of the FCEDA. “I am delighted to see that the company can take advantage of the kinds of business and quality-of-life assets that Fairfax County has developed for corporate headquarters and employees. It is also a tremendous corporate citizen, so the community will benefit tremendously as the company continues to expand its presence here.”

Since 1898, Bechtel has completed more than 25,000 projects across 160 countries on all seven continents. The company operates through four global businesses: Infrastructure; Nuclear, Security & Environmental; Oil, Gas & Chemicals; and Mining & Metals.
