BDO USA, LLP will open a 33,000-square-foot business service center in Columbus, OH to support the firm’s rapid growth. The firm will begin hiring in the final quarter of 2016 and plans to expand occupancy and space over time to accommodate more than 400 specialists and supervisory personnel by the end of 2021. BDO USA has not yet announced the exact location of the facility.
The scalable, multi-discipline business service center will be designed to optimize operations, ensure best practices and support professional development across the firm. Upon completion, the Columbus center will initially perform transaction services for BDO’s assurance, tax and business services and outsourcing practices. Functions for additional business lines and national services will be added in the future.
“After a comprehensive analysis of options across the country, we found Columbus to be the right location for our new business service center,” said Steve Ferrara, chief operating officer at BDO USA. “Columbus is home to a skilled, stable workforce, which will support the growth of the center and BDO over time. Its central location and convenient proximity to existing BDO offices throughout Ohio was also a determining factor.”
Financial and insurance related activities comprise the top sector of economic output—$28 billion in 2015—in the Columbus Region. Companies ranging from Huntington Bancshares and JPMorgan Chase & Co., to Nationwide and State Farm benefit from the Columbus Region’s continuous growth and skilled talent pool.
“BDO USA is one of the largest and most rapidly growing professional services firms in the country, and its professionals provide many services, including site location advice,” said Valentina Isakina, JobsOhio managing director for financial services. “We are delighted these experts chose Ohio to fulfill their strategic need. Columbus is a hotspot for millennial talent and an ideal location to support BDO’s new business service center, where 400 financial services specialists and supervisors will be on the job.”
