Workforce Focus: Site Selection & Quality Of Life

Community involvement and access to a rich variety of activities and amenities have climbed the list of factors for site decisions.

Tomball, Texas: Culture, Commerce, Community

An ideal mix of economic opportunity, vibrant culture, and smart growth make Tomball, Texas a top choice for investment. Located just north of Houston, business leaders recognize Tomball’s premier location with key amenities outside the city’s hustle and bustle. Culture, commerce, and community connect Tomball to create the quintessential quality of life.

Tomball’s appeal begins with its robust economic atmosphere. The 99.5 acre Tomball Business & Technology Park, ranked a top 10 national industrial park by Business Facilities, leads the way with a diverse list of companies that call it home. Operated by Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC), the master-planned Park is fully served with all utilities, provides off-site detention, and enjoys quick access to highways and modern amenities.

NewQuest Properties’ 65-acre The Grand at 249 is under development with more than 400,000 square feet of retail. Adjacent to that project, Lovett Industrial’s Interchange 249 offers more than three million square feet of class A industrial and retail. Macy’s, Inc operates a 900,000 square-foot distribution center with several more tenants on the way.

Near the heart of the city, South Live Oak Business Park is being designed as a master-planned, mixed-use development. The 6.2-acre site will be transformed into a retail and hospitality destination. South Live Oak’s proximity to Old Town Tomball ensures it captures Tomball’s soul.

Old Town is Tomball’s cultural center, embodying the city’s small-town charm. Significant investments supported by TEDC, such as redesigned alleyways, are underway in Old Town to improve walkability and further commercial growth. TEDC’s annual work plan includes a strategic goal to bring infrastructure and investment to an already thriving Old Town. Old Town is a hotspot for festivals, arts, food and beverage, and live music.

Tomball’s charm is not a secret, evidenced by people moving to the area every year. Population within Tomball is projected to grow from around 12,000 to more than 20,000 by 2030. The area’s growth has necessitated infrastructure investments to maintain a preferred quality of life. Local leaders had the foresight to improve connectivity ahead of growth. Tomball Parkway and Grand Parkway, both recently expanded, intersect Tomball to provide efficient movement of people and product. Road extensions within Tomball create easier traversing within city limits.

Education and workforce remain a priority to provide opportunities for students and fill key jobs for employers. TEDC’s partnerships with award-winning institutions, such as Tomball Independent School District and Lone Star College, help create a pipeline of career-ready students.
