A soybean processing plant will bring more than 100 jobs to Upper Sandusky, Ohio, through an approximately $500 million investment.
Louis Dreyfus Company, an agricultural goods merchant and processor, plans to construct the plant in Wyandot County.
Regional Growth Partnership CEO Dean Monske said the addition of Louis Dreyfus to Upper Sandusky will “contribute to the region’s prosperity and lays a foundation for future collaborations.”
“This development is a beacon of economic development and innovation,” Monske said.
Construction is expected to being in 2024 and will have “annual soy crush capacity of 1.5 million MT, according to LDC.
“This strategic development will further strengthen LDC’s core merchandizing capabilities with additional capacity to originate and process U.S. soy into value-added products – in this case edible oils and lecithin, reinforcing our position as a partner to our customers as we grow our Food & Feed Solutions business established in January,” said Michael Gelchie, LDC’s Chief Executive Officer.

The facility, according to Gov. Mike DeWine, will not only bring jobs to the state but “lead to new avenues” for growth and innovation in its agriculture sector.
Ohio annually sees an economic impact of $5.3 billion due to soybean production from its roughly 26,000 soybean farmers, according to JobsOhio.
