Saratoga County, NY: A Haven Across Various Industries
Saratoga County is home to one of New York’s largest and most successful economic investment projects in state history, GlobalFoundries. The county, long known for horse racing, is a thriving location for 21st century advanced manufacturing, commercial, industrial, and tourism sectors located at the transportation and government crossroads of the Northeast.
Emerging companies in high-tech, electronics, material processing, nanotechnology, life sciences, and clean renewable energy reflect a few of the 21st century sectors already established in Saratoga County.
The county is the birthplace of thoroughbred horse racing and ranked by U.S. News & World Report in 2022 as the healthiest county in the state. “The decades-long commitment by regional and local government, strong support of business, and community stakeholders, expansion of critical infrastructure and the availability of all modes of transportation has brought energy, optimism, opportunity, and economic success to our entire region,” said Greg Connors, Saratoga Economic Development Corporation President.
Planning is underway to bring the Belmont Stakes, the final race in horse racing’s Triple Crown, to the Saratoga Race Course in 2024 and 2025. A $100 million renovation and expansion at Albany International Airport 27 miles to the south and a $27 million makeover of the Saratoga County Airport will improve our ability to attract investors and visitors from around the nation and globe.
