Nova Scotia’s strategic location on Canada’s East Coast provides easy, fast, and reliable access to world markets. The province’s transportation system is an efficient and reliable combination of air, road, rail, and sea infrastructure to meet supply chain management and logistics needs. This allows businesses to move people and products in and out of North America faster than other gateways along the east coast.
Nova Scotia is home to Canada’s first living lab, The PIER, dedicated to transportation, supply chain and logistics industries. The PIER is where major supply chain partners collaborate to solve complex problems—focused on co-creating, testing, and accelerating solutions and technology that benefit Canada’s economy, the environment, and local community.
In 2023, the innovation hubs of the Port of Hamburg (homePORT), the Port of Halifax (The PIER), and the Port of Valencia (Opentop) announced they started working toward setting up an alliance to drive the adoption of innovation in the global port system. The Port of Halifax is also working with the Hamburg Port Authority to decarbonize the shipping corridor between the two countries, with a focus on developing infrastructure for green energy and clean fuels.
Nova Scotia’s strategic partnerships enhances the province’s capacity in logistics and environmental stewardship.
