According to the National Mining Association, Indiana is home to 309 mining operations and provides employment for more than 18,800 Hoosiers. Crushed stone, portland cement, construction sand and gravel are the Hoosier State's leading nonfuel minerals, and in 2010, Indiana's mining operations created $3.3 billion worth of mineral, metal and fuel products.
