“We evaluated several locations in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma,” said Jason Current, executive vice president for Superior Pipe Products. “Our requirements included being centrally located for distribution, a strong workforce and most importantly a stable growth-minded community where we can flourish. LEDA has been helpful every step of the way, and Superior Pipe Products, LLC looks forward to building our new facility in Lubbock.”

Superior Pipe Products is finalizing its location within the city and expects to begin its Lubbock operations in Spring 2019.

“It helps to be within an area that we can truck products,” Current told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. “Logistics is one of the biggest costs in any product. We’re able to reach several different markets in this area. Lubbock was centrally located.”

Current added that the area’s cost of living and eager workforce were additional factors that made the city the right choice for this project

“Any time you add manufacturing jobs to your community, it brings in additional wealth, especially when those products are being sold somewhere else,” commented John Osborne, president and CEO of LEDA. “Manufacturing jobs are very difficult to bring in, but there are a lot of good reasons to be here in Lubbock, Texas.”

Since its inception in 2004, LEDA has assisted 147 companies with their expansion or relocation projects. These companies committed to creating 7,393 jobs and investing more than $942 million in new capital improvements that have resulted in $1.4 billion in value added impact to the area.
