TVA hired Chicago-based Deloitte Consulting to identify and evaluate locations for data centers in the seven-state TVA service area. Deloitte’s study found the 10.6-acre site in Knoxville is readily accessible, has a strong telecommunications infrastructure and availability of reliable electricity—all criteria for a primary site for a data center company.

The proposed site fits into a gap in the automotive manufacturing landscape across the Southeast and is ideally situated to benefit from surrounding suppliers but not close enough to directly compete for labor and resources with any manufacturers located at surrounding megasites.

Pinnacle presently occupies 170,000 square feet at One Commerce Square in downtown Memphis, which houses approximately 500 employees. Tentative plans call for the move to Minnesota to be completed by May 2013.

The facility will be a 320,000-square-foot manufacturing, research, showroom and administrative facility and will be located at the Sugarlimb Industrial Park.
