Pace Glass Creating 150 Jobs In New Jersey

The company just broke ground on the $55 million, 250,000-square-foot glass recycling facility that will open early next year in Andover Township, NJ.

At a recent groundbreaking ceremony in Andover Township, NJ, Pace Glass announced that its planned $55 million, 250,000-square-foot recycling facility — which local leaders called “the largest glass-recycling facility in the world” — will create 150 jobs. The glass recycling company also operates a facility in Jersey City, opened in 2016.

“We are happy to be here and playing a small role in glass recycling in this country,” said Pace CEO George Valiotis. “We will open other businesses in the area. We hope that what we are doing in Andover is a model for other towns in the nation.”

Pace Glass expects the plant to open in eight months and to will reach full employment by June 2019, according to Valiotis. The company will use local rail facilities to ship its products to the site from up to 500 miles away, and plans to add a rail spur so it can unload and load more easily.

“I am thrilled Pace Glass chose to continue investing in New Jersey workers and families by opening up its second facility in our state, creating 80 local jobs and as many as 60 jobs for truck drivers to collect glass and deliver materials to manufacturing sites across New Jersey and neighboring states,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Today’s groundbreaking showcased the benefits the new facility will bring to our environment and our economy, and demonstrated the power of business and government working together on the same team.

“For my part, I will keep fighting to lower taxes, cut red tape, invest in infrastructure, and fight for a better return on the tax dollars we already send to Washington,” he continued. “Later this week, the Governor will sign the New Jersey Tax Cut Plan I introduced in January, helping us take the next step toward bringing more businesses like Pace Glass to the Fifth District.”
