Corporate HQ Projects Create Nearly 90 Jobs
Since the beginning of July, three companies have announced corporate headquarters expansion or relocation projects in South Carolina: Mungo Homes, Heirloom Cloud Corporation, and Wenker, Inc.
Mungo Homes, a home builder with communities throughout the Southeast, is expanding its corporate headquarters in Irmo, SC. The $10 million investment will create 40 new jobs in Richland County. The company will build a 20,250-square-foot facility to house its marketing, human resources, information technology, accounting, purchasing and customer service teams. The new building will sit adjacent to the current headquarters, which will receive extensive renovations. Mungo Homes expects to complete the project in late 2024 or early 2025.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to this project. The council also awarded a $200,000 Set-Aside grant to Richland County to assist with the costs of building improvements.
“Even though our footprint has expanded to four states, this company was ‘born’ in Irmo, South Carolina so it’s important to us to remain headquartered in our home community,” said Mungo Homes CEO Steven Mungo. “We appreciate the support from the Department of Commerce, along with Richland County, to help make this project a reality, and we look forward to providing our team members with an updated work environment that mirrors the innovation and thoughtfulness we put into our homes.”
“This investment supports council’s commitment to bolstering economic development throughout Richland County while contributing to the success of local business,” commented Richland County Council Chair Overture Walker. “The expansion will not only be an asset to the Irmo area with the creation of new jobs but also add to the vibrancy and quality of life in the community. We welcome and are excited about this new opportunity for growth.”
In Charleston County, Heirloom Cloud Corporation is investing $150,000 to relocate its headquarters from Delaware to Mount Pleasant. The project will create 19 new jobs.
Heirloom, a digital technology service provider, researched multiple regions within a two-day ground delivery to large population centers on the Eastern Seaboard before choosing Charleston County.
“We’ve already digitized millions of photos, home movies and other priceless memories. However, Heirloom can grow faster by moving our headquarters to South Carolina.”

“We’ve already digitized millions of photos, home movies and other priceless memories. However, Heirloom can grow faster by moving our headquarters to South Carolina,” explained Heirloom Cloud Corporation Founder Geoff Weber. “From a larger fulfillment center here, we get to serve many more families who ship us their cherished media for conversion.”
Heirloom will lease two offices at the Harbor Entrepreneur Center in Mount Pleasant. This headquarters location will be the company’s hub for receiving nationwide shipments and serving walk-in customers. Heirloom will continue using an existing facility in Berkeley County for backend operations.
“It is an honor that after researching multiple East Coast locations, Heirloom chose Mount Pleasant as the location for its new headquarters,” said Secretary Lightsey. “Charleston County is the complete package offering quick access to major U.S. cities while being the kind of place where people want to settle and raise their families. Congratulations Heirloom, and we are anxious to see what is next.”
And in Greenville County, Wenker, Inc. will grow its South Carolina presence by establishing its U.S. headquarters in Greer. The Germany-based automotive supplier’s $3.1 million investment will create 27 new jobs; operations are expected to be complete by mid-2024.
“The U.S.-Wenker story is becoming an exciting one,” said Wenker, Inc. Germany CEO and Owner Stefan Leers. “We are very proud to build our new U.S. headquarters in Greenville County, a community which felt like home from day one.”
Wenker offers plant engineering and fabricated metal products for the automotive industry. Success at its smaller operation in Spartanburg County prompted Wenker to explore larger possibilities. By moving to its new 131,400-square-foot manufacturing facility in Greer, the company will be able to accommodate increased production operations.
“We are always pleased when a fine international organization like Wenker, Inc. chooses to expand its South Carolina presence by growing in Greenville County,” commented Greenville County Council Chairman / Greenville Area Development Corporation Board Member Dan Tripp. “The company’s six decades of excellence in industrial production and engineering is an ideal addition to Greenville’s booming automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors, and we wish them success here long into the future.”
