Civic Resource Group International (CRGI) announced it is working with Microsoft on Microsoft CityNext, an initiative for helping governments and citizens reimagine what is next for their cities. Through the Microsoft CityNext, Microsoft and CRGI will enable leaders to do “new-with-less,” by combining technology with innovative ideas to connect governments, businesses, and citizens with city services, supporting cost efficiency, sustainable environments, and thriving communities.

CRGI provides digital solutions for the broad public sector including public transportation, environmental/utilities, tourism/economic development. CRGI’s “Smart” offering addresses public sector needs resulting from the emergence of the “Internet of Things.”

“Our partnering on Microsoft CityNext bolsters our commitment to champion ‘Smart Cities’ globally. CRGI’s mission is built around improving the quality of life through new technologies. Microsoft’s cloud-based solutions help make our CivicConnect™ platform and applications real transformation agents for any city aspiring to become a ‘Smart City.’ Sustainability, efficiency, connectivity are at the core of Smart Cities, and the new mobile-citizen is seeking to engage/connect with government and public services in the manner/time/place they desire. We are enabling these new Smart Cities and Smart Citizens,” said Dr. Gregory Curtin, founder and CEO.

“Even though cities are feeling the economic strain, we believe a new era of innovation will create opportunities for people to use technology to accomplish what they never thought possible. We’re inspired by our diverse partner ecosystem and know that together we can help cities realize their full potential,” said Rob Bernard, Microsoft Chief Environmental Strategist and noted cities strategist.
