Business, Research & Industrial Parks: A Hub For Growth

From office parks to manufacturing districts, these diversified sites offer resources that can help businesses thrive.

Focus Central PA: Prime Site, Billions In Infrastructure

Focus Central Pennsylvania is a regional marketing alliance promoting investment opportunities in seven counties: Mifflin, Centre, Snyder, Union, Northumberland, Montour, and Columbia. Focus Central PA is regionally focused but locally connected to reduce risks and increase the speed of site location decisions and investment projects. The region has a strategic northeast United States location with access to 40% of the U.S. population within an eight-hour drive.

Central PA is a world apart, in the center of it all. Living in Central PA, one can have breakfast at home and drive to a lunch meeting in Baltimore, New York City, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, or Pittsburgh with time to spare. The quality of life and affordability offered by Central PA allows for the nurturing of business, family, and well-being. It is the location where ideal becomes real.

The Focus Central PA region has large rail-served industrial sites ready for construction and new speculative manufacturing/distribution buildings ready for sale or lease with infrastructure and incentives. The region is home to skilled and productive talent with 15% of the labor force in manufacturing. Central PA is home to several premier colleges, universities, and technical training institutes providing world-class skilled talent, innovation, research, and development resources.

Billions of dollars are being invested in Central PA from infrastructure to industry, including a new billion-dollar highway scheduled to be completed in 2027 that will be a major north/south trucking corridor just west of Interstate 81.

Among the recent and notable Central PA industry wins is ENCINA, a circular manufacturer that converts end-of-life plastics into new products. ENCINA chose Central PA for its $1 billion facility, with plans to create 300 local careers.

Country View Family Farms’ Clemens Food Group—the fifth largest pork processor in the U.S.—invested in Central PA for its $48 million feed mill investment project that includes a 100-unit rail loop track.

“The township has been great to work with,” said Aaron Ott, President of Country View Family Farms. “It’s very nice to work with local officials who look out for the economic stimulus in their area.”

GAF, the largest roofing manufacturer in North America, also invests in Central PA.

“GAF chose to build a second plant in the New Columbia area (Central Pennsylvania) because of the talented workforce, excellent rail service, and proximity to an interstate highway and our customer base in the Northeast,” said Andy Hilton, Chief Communications Officer at GAF.
