“Washington County offers us excellent infrastructure and very good development opportunities,” said Mark Shiring, president of ebm-papst U.S. “We are therefore very pleased to be able to start production at our second U.S. site shortly. As an innovation leader, especially for energy-efficient fan solutions, we see great potential for further growth in North America. For us, the new location is an excellent complement to our headquarters in Farmington.”

Ebm-papst produces motors and fans for many industries including agriculture, air-conditioning and ventilation, appliance, commercial refrigeration and others. It has an international reach with its global headquarters in Germany and employs more than 15,000 employees worldwide. The company’s U.S. headquarters is located in Farmington, CT, where it employs approximately 300 people.

“Tennessee is home to more than 120 German-owned establishments that employ nearly 20,000 employees,” said Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Bob Rolfe. “I want to thank ebm-papst for choosing to locate its new operations in Washington County and for boosting our foreign direct investment initiatives in our state by creating 200 jobs in the Northeast region.”

Ebm-papst will manufacture fans for refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation applications in Washington County. The facility is set to be operational beginning in September 2019.

“I am happy to welcome ebm-papst to Tennessee and thank them for choosing Washington County as the location for its second U.S. facility,” said Gov. Bill Lee. “Ebm-papst’s decision to locate in Northeast Tennessee and create 200 jobs in Washington County showcases that our business environment and skilled workforce continue to be assets for companies looking to locate new operations.”
