Firestone Fibers & Textiles Company is expanding its 483,916-square-foot North American headquarters and advanced manufacturing plant in Kings Mountain, NC by 110,000 square feet. The manufacturer of technical textile fibers plans to invest approximately $19.8 million in the plant expansion and new machinery and equipment, and create at least 25 new jobs in Gaston County.
“This plant expansion is great news for Kings Mountain and Gaston County,” said Chad Brown, Chairman of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners. “It is always gratifying when one of our community’s oldest operating industrial firms – Firestone Fibers & Textiles Company continues to grow.”
Since 1992, Firestone’s Kings Mountain facility has manufactured tire cord and similar products. Firestone Fibers & Textiles has ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 registered plants located in Kings Mountain and Gastonia in North Carolina, as well as Woodstock, Ontario.
“This expansion of Firestone Fibers & Textiles Company is wonderful,” said Kings Mountain Mayor Scott Neisler. “The Kings Mountain City Council is committed to maintaining a welcoming environment for industry. This internationally recognized brand helps our efforts to recruit additional businesses to our city. Growth of an existing company is a testament to the economic health of the local community and to the ease of having operations in that community. As a city we strive to provide the best possible customer service to strengthen this life-long partnership with Firestone Fibers & Textiles Company. “
“It was a true team effort on the part of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, the Kings Mountain City Council and the staff of the Economic Development Commission to bring this project to fruition,” said Robert Browne, Chairman of the Gaston County Economic Development Commission.
