In September 2013, Honda’s Marysville, Ohio, plant was the top-producing assembly plant in North America. Union Rural Electric Cooperative supplies the factory with its power.
Now, Honda exports more autos from North America than it imports. In 2012, Honda exported more than 90,000 vehicles. Its goal is 200,000 exports annually.
The shift to net exporter is in part due to the $2.7 billion investment Honda has been making in the past three years to increase both capacity and capabilities in North America.
Recently, Honda announced an investment of approximately $215 million in its Ohio operations to add new powertrain technologies and a technical training center at its engine plant in Anna, Ohio, while also establishing a technical training center, heritage center, and office space for the new Honda North America Services in Marysville, Ohio.
