The Ak-Chin Indian Community is adjacent to the City of Maricopa, just over 18 miles southwest of Phoenix, and 34 miles from Sky Harbor Airport. The Reservation currently encompasses an area of approximately 22,000 acres less than half of the nearly 48,000 originally assigned to the tribe by President Taft in May 1912. The Santa Cruz Commerce Center, the interstitial property known as the “Bunger Property” and former Phoenix Regional Airport, now re-named Ak-Chin Regional Airport are located on the eastern edge of the Reservation, between the Cities of Maricopa and Casa Grande in Pinal County, Arizona.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
The Tribe’s Government was formally organized in 1961, under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934. The Ak-Chin Indian Community is governed by a 5 member Community Council, which oversees the governmental operations and departments that service the Community of Ak-Chin. The Council consists of a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman, and three Council Members – all of whom are elected democratically each year, with staggering terms. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman are elected from within the Council at the start of the new year. With the input of many insightful Community leaders, talented staff members and professional consultants, the Community has made the Santa Cruz Commerce Center and its adjacent industrial properties an emerging commerce hub.

AK-CHIN INDUSTRIAL PARK BOARD
The Ak-Chin Industrial Park Board was formally established on September 21, 2005 by the Ak-Chin Community Council to develop, operate and manage the Community’s industrial properties: Santa Cruz Commerce Center, Ak-Chin Regional Airport (formerly Phoenix Regional Airport) and an interstitial property know as the “Bunger Property,” which includes Adobe Office Suites.

It has been the goal of the Board to create a business environment which offers significant advantages to its tenants and encourages business innovation and jobs growth for both the Ak-Chin Indian Community and the surrounding communities at large.

To simplify matters for tenants, the Board facilitates the processes for planning and zoning, architecture and construction, and building permitting and signage within the Community on behalf of the tenant.
