Faurecia has inaugurated its new automotive seating plant in Wentzville, MO. The facility represents a $13 million investment by Faurecia in the area to support its GM business. The plant started production in September and employs 180 people.

“For many months, Faurecia has helped shape new jobs, new shifts and new production lines here in Wentzville,” Nik Endrud, President of Faurecia Automotive Seating North America, said during the facility’s flag raising event. “We are grateful for the good neighbors we have in the people and institutions of Wentzville and the partnerships we are building here with our customer and the community.”

“The historic investments made by both Ford and GM continue to grow Missouri’s automotive supply chain and drive significant economic impact around the state,” said Mike Downing, director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. “Faurecia’s multi-million dollar expansion both strengthens Missouri’s automotive vehicle production industry and supports further job creation in its community and beyond.”

Faurecia produces seats for General Motors’ award winning “Motor Trend Truck of the Year” Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon truck lines during two shifts at the Wentzville plant.

When Faurecia sought to build a new workforce in Wentzville, it partnered with individuals from the Department of Economic Development, Missouri Career Center and St. Charles Community College for job fair assistance and help identifying qualified candidates. Several candidates had completed or were currently enrolled in the National Career Readiness Certificate program, which teaches skills that are critical to job success.

“The support Faurecia received here as we’ve ramped up our operations has helped us create a workforce of the highest quality,” Endrud said. “The high impact team that exists today as a result of our local partnerships is recognized for low turnover, quality products and sets a benchmark for other new facilities.”

Faurecia Automotive Seating makes high-performance seating mechanisms, global-standard frames and advanced mechatronics systems with operations at 76 sites in 25 countries. The 81,844 square-foot Wentzville plant is the 47th Faurecia production site in North America.
